@wobin Ask any engineer over 50, or a younger one who used logarithm tables.

(Spoiler: in some professions, notably engineering, numbers less than zero are represented in complement form where only the part before the decimal point is negative. 1̄.37 = −1 + 0.37 = −0.63.)
