I'm not remotely a person who knows about baking so I don't know why they didn't rise (needs more baking powder maybe?), but they WERE nice and moist inside and not like hockey pucks!
@virtualwolf You can very easily overmix scones, being as hands off as possible will help. Freezing and grating the butter, then barely using your fingers to bring it all together and not kneading or pushing hard
@virtualwolf The classic Women's Weekly recipe uses lemonade for liquid, where the bubbles help keep things light
