@hugh I think that suggesting that people not write long threads is unnecessarily exclusionary. I agree that if you have a lot to say, you should consider having maintaining a blog and post links to the blog. But speaking as a person who both blogs *and* writes long replies to messages, I think that being harsh about long threads is also not the epitome of "cosy web".

@trishalynn @hugh I like that this new space is not like the old space, but I think rules and “shoulds” make it hard for new people to feel welcome. I’m enjoying making connections and participating in discussions, I look forward to long threads and Influencer content as well! And I think I will be able to filter much better here since the Algorithm isn’t forcing me to see things I don’t want to see. I hope, anyway!

@trishalynn @hugh @phoebe same, this place wouldn’t be the same without long journeys. I thought Mastodon was about doing social media the way you’re comfy with that still respects other people.
