Insiders is fundamentally an occult exercise where people who revere a process they feel custodians of (‘politics’), which has its sacred places and buildings, rituals and rubrics, attempt to find meanings in patterns of everyday occurrences, and place themselves closer to the hidden significance of it all than the uninitiated (the rest of us)
If people feel alienated from power it’s partly because people like political correspondents spend so much energy obscuring it
@liamvhogan I think this sums up my feelings nicely. When I was a kid I loved political current affairs and satire. I can't tell if it changed as a medium, if I'm less naive today, or both.
