@mattof@protagio.social:

Encryption is either secure or it’s not – there is no middle ground

The principle of end-to-end encryption underpins a system of communication where only the communicating users can read the messages. To this end, it exists to prevent any potential eavesdroppers (telecom providers, internet providers, law enforcement agencies) from being able to access the cryptographic keys needed to decrypt the conversation.

By calling on technology companies to find ways to bypass encryption so that law enforcement agencies can quickly access a suspect’s messages or device, we may end up with weak encryption. And weak encryption is the same as no encryption.

Good morning. It is April Second; time to upgrade your Internet Trust Level from "assume anything at all sensational is an April Fools joke" to "assume everything is misinformation paid for by someone with several orders of magnitude more money than you".

@eldaking it actually stands for Fear Of Modulo Operations, because people dislike division with remainders left over.

I am an electrical engineering student, passionate about diy electronics, free software and hardware, and repairing or repurposing anything that can be. Love all people, respect all people, empower all people. Enjoy meandering and long-winded conversations about life, the universe and everything. Very open but also introverted.

Anyway on this #AutismAcceptanceMonth I’m here to remind you that autistic people are almost never bullied for being autistic, but rather for being “weird.” Autistic people express themselves differently, use different language, and experience things like gender and sexuality differently than neurotypical people. Keep this in mind next time you’re rolling your eyes at someone you find embarrassing online

Hi, I'm Leo, I'm from Hobart Tasmania and I do a lot of things. I'm a developer, workshop host, electronics tinkerer, Linux person, community member. I try to do a bit of everything. Which leads to a very busy life hehe. I joined Mastodon mostly because I wasn't liking Twitter, it wasn't working for me. Curious to see what's on here!

Hey Everyone! I'm new to the platform and haven't ever really done social media in the past either. I'm currently getting my PhD in Physics and have yet to find a subject of study that doesn't have some fascinating aspect about it (hence my username) I learn everything I possibly can and find everything intriguing! A decentralized media platform is super cool and I wanted to see how the environment differs from what I have seen twitter to be like..
