Woohoo! Actually caught up with my boss.

There's been stuff on my tasklist that I have been DREADING, as not dead keen on learning Laravel. This work is now being moved to a Laravel expert, with whom I will work, me doing middleware/database side. Perfekt!

@grumpysmiffy laravel!!! j keep running smack into that one.

@zens The Eloquent ORM has been the bane of my life since I picked up the project. The way it builds database tables/queries is utter SHIT. Like worse than a first year WordPress kiddy database work.

Boss has just given me carte blanche to dive in and do (lots of) remedial work.

@grumpysmiffy ORMs in general were always a bad idea. sorry you gotta deal with that shit. but better that shit than other shit right?

work

@zens It's not so bad. The ORM did the heavy lifting of providing the structure for a whole load of tables. Now I can pick up and actually add all the missing indices, re-write the trigger functions, add geospatial columns - but not having to re-do anything significant. Well, apart from one bit... But it's a good time to be doing it, as we're splitting much of the functionality from the Laravel app. Keeps me busy!
